It's not that puzzleing when you know a little of the game. AOL, & Time warner, are now partners... AOL loves to brandish the pyramid with the eye in it --- Timewarner is even bolder, their logo is... well... look closely... nothing more than three sixs carfully aranged to resemble the Egyptian eye that is also in a pyramid. The real guys in the background of these companies are no angels. They know the game, & RUN it.

The object of this venture is to... at least from my point of veiw... control everyone else by handing over their stress to them//duh... I got a degree... huh huh//(sleeping at the wheel) developers, & keep them all enslaved with the Patent, & Know How Contracts(Know-How contract never expires) which expressly states the licensee cannot defame, or otherwise compete with whatever they are contracting from the licensor.

It's a no-brainer really. It's just the old fassioned brainwash kung-fu technique.

In this case, AOL opened it up for commercial use as well. Says so in the FAQ on developer.aim.com
