[...] This morning I learned that Google has tweaked their Page Creator program adding in browser image editing, multiple sites and automatic mobile edition of pages. I was less than enamored by the debut edition of Page Creator earlier in February 2006 and haven’t really returned since. I just looked at what I have on there and it’s like any other crappy personal homepage. [...]

[...] I hope other contestants were able to get to the final puzzle without too many server errors. Google and scaling concerns are becoming a cliche of sorts. This quest, ironically enough, generated some complaints from users about how hard it was to actually search Google for some information. I think this frustration is more representative of how hard it can be sometimes using all search engines, not only Google. [...]

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm getting very tired of this simple interface design shtick of Google's. Don't Get me wrong, it works exceptionally well for some things (like Google search). But doesn’t work for others such as Google Reader or Gmai and certainly doesn’t work for a web page editor.

For me, personally, the credibility that the Google name had on it's own is gone. They've really got to be innovative and focus on their goal of "organising the worlds information" rather that trying to dominate it with a pathetic offerings such as this.

Well new signups are closed. Just a place for your email ...

<i>Thank you for your interest in Google Page Creator! Google Page Creator has experienced extremely strong demand, and, as a result, we have temporarily limited the number of new signups as we increase capacity. In the meantime, please submit your email address and we will notify you as soon as we are ready to add new accounts. Thank you for your patience.</i>

Yeah, they also got digged and slashdotted, Sterling. Don't see too many diggs over 3,000, but Google Page Creator was one of them.

i posted something on <a href="http://www.uneasysilence.com/archive/2006/02/5471/" rel="nofollow">uneasysilence</a> regarding the service [complaining that HTML editing was missing] and someone emailed in saying that HTML files can be uploaded? i can't seem to get past the "oops" messages with a sane temperament long enough to find the feature.
