Without resorting to extensions: I just create a folder to contain all of the pages for a "session", and then I can right-click on the folder and select "Open in Tabs". Put the folder on the Bookmark Toolbar, et voila.

My problem with Firefox is I have too many extensions I like so it ends up bloating the browser experience, sort of like too many toolbars in IE. None of this is the browser maker's faults, but for me it is one where I'm forced to run a more minimalist experience. With Opera I have no toolbars, no extras, no fluff, it's just a very fast, smooth experience and I like using those sessions. Of course you can do something similar with extensions.

I have sessions setup for different types of work environments.

I recently tried Opera for the first time myself. I like it way better than IE, but it also seems to have some of the same issues as IE which are not issues for Firefox: http://www.chipstips.com/microblog/index.php/post/41/
On the whole, I like Firefox better -- unless perhaps you can enlighten me about areas where Opera excels...
