Group lycanthropy |
The current after hours conference group game of choice — at least in this area — seems to be one called Werewolf. Never heard of it? Me neither until Mind Camp 1.0 last year. I saw these campers sitting in a circle making the occasional cheers and jeers and learned they were playing this game. A couple people talked about it rather excitedly. Apparently this game also goes by the title of Mafia.
I should have gone over and given it a try, which was one of my regrets at Mind Camp. As fate would have it, I might just get another chance to try out this game.
It seems perhaps in the after, non-working hours of Search Champs a Werewolf game might be fired up back at the hotel. So to bone up on my knowledge of this game I decided to use, what else, an MSN search for werewolf game and the #1 listing appears to be from the creator of the Werewolf. He explains:
Werewolf is a simple game for a large group of people (seven or more.) It requires no equipment besides some bits of paper; you can play it just sitting in a circle. I’d call it a party game, except that it’s a game of accusations, lying, bluffing, second-guessing, assassination, and mob hysteria.
Assassination, mob hysteria, lying, bluffing, yeah, I can see why that would be an intriguing game for a minimum of seven people. For others wondering what’s up with this game, just visit the game page link above and read about it. Sounds kind of fun. Have any readers ever played this game?
Good news! I’ve learned that there will be some non-NDA stuff that we will be permitted to blog about (I’m guessing the results of any Werewolf matches will also fall into this category) so am looking forward to whatever this turns out to be and will be sharing at least some of that here.
I am also registered for the 2006 Northern Voice conference which is a public conference (and selling out from what I understand) so I will probably be blogging that again next month. More on that as it gets closer.
Did this post make you go hmm?

I’ve heard of Mafia, though never played it. I MUCH prefer the werewolf variant. I’m going to print the PDF cards out and try it this weekend!
