My favorite digg clone, is leetdaily.com. Its a news site strictly for gaming, but puts a twist on diggs by giving articles a Leet Percentage Rating. Really cool and innovative.

[...] Back in December of last year, we received a trackback from a digg-clone website and was curious if there were other digg clones and software. At the time I’d seen a few, but many more have sprung up in the last six months. With AOL/Netscape now the biggest clone on the block, I thought it would be timely to return to the project and make some sort of formal list. This list isn’t all-inclusive. Criteria used were English-only digg-like sites and preferably those that appeared active and/or had a compelling niche topic/design. There might be a couple to be removed in this list but I came across 50+ to start out with and I’m sure some of you might know others I’m missing to add. [...]

You know what is interesting is that there are already sites that allow you to create your own community news site (like digg). This space (for miniature digg sites) I think is pretty compelling, and I think eventually sites like crispynews.com sites will give traditional audience-focused magazines a run for their money. NOw its almost costless to start one of these suckers.

I agree. I got idea of creating digg clone with some other topic while ago, but never made it work. With pligg clone I am sure there will be a lot of these websites in future.

There is definitely room for some Digg clones, as long as they don't tread on the toes of Digg by dealing with tech news. There are plenty of other topics which could use a community driven news site such as Digg - I found this entry while searching for a music related clone of Digg and if I can't find one then I may be tempted to create one using Pligg.
