It has been there a while on my gMail... some early adopter thing, I guess. It is definitely not a newsreaderin the best sense. It is really an "attention" thing, that you notice once in a while when you see an interesting artcile scroll by. Generally I ignore it. Sometimes I'll see an enGadget or NYT link that looks intereting. But, I must agree that I don't care whether Google calls it Web Clips, RSS Reader, or GatorChomperAtomSmasher.
