Moley, moley HDTV vanity |
You can run, but not hide from HDTV picture clarity. Apparently the fact that pictures can’t be photoshopped on the fly before being distributed to the world via the telly has some Hollywood stars very concerned. TVPredictions.com:
And in Hollywood, that’s a serious issue. Trust me, I know. I get e-mails from actors, agents and network officials inquiring about my comments on how people look in HDTV. They realize the articles are meant to be entertaining, but they are nervous about what I’m saying. They seem to sense they are losing some control over their ability to manipulate their audience.
These concerns makes me wonder if/when we will start seeing some sort of preprocessing technology which can airbrush physical imperfections on the fly? Thanks to the comedic genius of Mike Myers (see title reference), physical characteristics can sometimes be distracting, but I doubt most viewers are homing in on Britney’s puffy eyes or wrinkle lines for most programs. Then again, maybe some TV watchers do obsess about stuff like that? Do you?
BTW, check out the picture of Cameron Diaz in that linked article? Headlights on!
While in the television category, and on a much more somber note, I didn’t mention last week the passing of Mr. Miyagi and Arnold the diner owner on Happy Days, Pat Morita. The comedian and mentor of Daniel-son died due to liver and kidney problems at the age of 73. Wax off, Mr. Miyagi, you will be missed. Seriously.
Did this post make you go hmm?
