Google’s brief UnSafeSearch |
Whenever you have user generated content, pr0n is a certainity, and Google, the current masters of the search game with their new Google Base unintentionally made this content even easier to find … at least for a little while.
“Yesterday evening, we became aware of a problem with the Google Base SafeSearch feature and we acted quickly to resolve the issue,” Google spokesman Nate Tyler said via an e-mail on Wednesday. He said the filter feature was broken for “some period of time,” but declined to further specify.
Those with SafeSearch disabled can still view the adult content which Google says is a small percentage overall.
While on this subject, it’s interesting to note that Blogger (owned by Google) is the only major company free hosting blog site that allows adult blogs. Not the case for MSN Spaces, Yahoo 360 or AOLJournals. Also interesting to note is most splogs I’ve come across, from a non-scientific study, are not adult-oriented.

I have noticed this which is bad when you work with a schools computers because the children can be looking up good pictures and finding the bad ones and then often times can easily be blamed for looking at them. The filters don’t stop everything.
A few months ago I had people find my blog searching for things like how to get women to star in my porn movie and some others because of a post I did about a strip club being sued or something.
Keep up the good work with your blog.
