MPAA agreement with Cohen requires BitTorrent changes |
The MPAA, which some liken to the bastard brother of the RIAA, sunk its claws into Bram Cohen, creator of BitTorrent, and have extracted a deal which they hope will help reduce the exchange of pirated movie across BitTorrent.
“BitTorrent Inc. discourages the use of its technology for distributing films without a license to do so,” Cohen said in the statement. “As such, we are pleased to work with the film industry to remove unauthorized content from bittorrent.com’s search engine.”
Meanwhile, DVD sales continue to explode and the box office has increased in gross receipts every year for the last 15 save for one.

BitTorrent Deals with MPAA
The movie industry and Bram Cohen, the programmer behind the widely used BitTorrent have signed a deal they hope will reduce the number of pirated films shared on the downloading network.
The deal however, only covers those films found on BitTorrent….
