gada.be given boot by Google |
Didn’t take Google too long to give gada.be the boot. Matt Cutts, Google engineer, weighs in on David Naylor’s blog: “I suspect it would do better if it didn’t generate dynamic subdomains for any phrase at all.”
Meanwhile, Pirillo is vacationing in Hawaii, complaining about almost everything according to his girlfriend, which someone in Pirillo’s comment area accuses as being an “attention whore” scheme.
As for gada.be, I still think the use of trademarks and brands in subdomains is unwise. Stuff like this: playboy.gada.be need to be filtered. And since adult content is not allowed with Google Adsense possible troubles could be brewing there too if this stuff isn’t filtered out.
When Chris returns I hope he can work out something with Google that addresses what his team fundamentally is trying to do: make it easier/faster to find content of interest using mobile devices.

Why does Google need to work something out here? They’re not the guardians of the Internet, anyone can enter gada.be on a compatible mobile phone and use the search.

Brian - because without Google Chris will have trouble getting anybody to actually find his service. Some 60-70% of SE traffic comes from Google, he will have a tough road to hoe without gada.be in Google. It’s gada.be, yanno?
