Anybody else down for Poseidon Adventure this weekend? |
I enjoyed the original Poseidon Adventure (1972) and am somewhat curious about seeing what a more technical updated version will be like. I’m pretty certain the acting and storyline won’t compare, but the effects possibilities? Ooooo.

Going to be tough to beat the performances of Leslie Nielson, Ernest Borgnine and Lex Luthor, er, Gene Hackman, even if you are in the camp that thought they overacted in the film. Might want to PVR this at least. Just for the scenes of the ocean turning over the ship. This Sunday night on NBC.
Did this post make you go hmm?

I’ve seen it (I wrote it)… and the boat tipping is definitely improved over the 1972 version. I hope you like it.

Thanks for stopping by, Bryce. So, is the acting any better? What about your dialogue? Is it improved over some of the overacted lines delivered in the ‘72 version?

A whole lot of the character stuff I wrote has been edited out of the NBC version because it is a 3-hour and it was written as a mini-series (2 x 2-hours). I really liked my original script, and there’s a lot to like about this re-make — you’ll have to decide, of course!

I watched it. I liked it a lot better than the first.
Even though it wasn’t a ‘few night series’ it still managed to capture the details and drama of the first.

[…] There is one curious technology nod that never would have happened in ‘72: hey, let’s stop by the internet cafe and send out emails to our mailing list that the ship is sinking. Bill Gates was even mentioned, as Lestat notes: “Oh yea - did you catch the childs comment at the internet cafe?! “Bill Gates’ worst nightmare.” I wonder if Scoble caught this one? Nice touch! […]
