Premature extrapolation: Sony Playstation 4 |
Talk about stupid timing to talk about the Playstation 4 in any capacity when the PS3 isn’t even available to buy yet, but that didn’t stop Sony’s Ken Kutargi from saying:
My dream, and the dream of all my team, hasn’t finished,” Kutaragi told the BBC recently. “In fact we haven’t achieved even half of what we’re going to do. We want to lead with the PlayStation 3, and beyond that to the PlayStation 4 within the next decade.”
Within the next decade.
This just further solidifies my belief that the videogame console industry has become all about turn, burn and churn. It’s an industry I’ve been a dedicated fan of for some twenty years but continue to lose interest because of the focus away from the software (games) and into who has the biggest package (hardware).
It’s a five year cycle, fellow gamers. I guess we can expect the Xbox 360 II (Xbox 720?) or whatever it will be called by 2010 or 2011.
Speaking of the Xbox 360 — the one coming out a mere 168 hours or so from now — we were at Best Buy earlier and they aren’t selling any of the games early now. This just breaks off a turd on my extremely poorly inked comic on Sunday. Previously I’d seen a couple games as being available today, but at the store it said no games will be available untilNovember 22. So did Microsoft change their mind? Did the stores make a mistake?
(cue Twilight Zone music)
Update: What is it with me and PSP and Playstation getting mixed up … I’ve made this same mistake before! Argh. Fixed in the title.
Did this post make you go hmm?
