For those Adsense publishers wondering why the Adsense stats have been out of whack today, an answer finally comes … in the form of two new revenue options. Just login to your Adsense stats area and look for the new “referrals” tab.

Google adds two new revenue options: Firefox with Google Toolbar and Adsense referral fees (once the new publisher makes their first $100)

Google is getting into the referral business with Adsense and Firefox. First, those Adsense publishers who refer a new Adsense publisher who makes at least $100 will earn a $100 bonus themselves. Thosse who get folks to download Firefox with the Google Toolbar will make “up to” $1. I don’t use the Google Toolbar much any more (think it might still be installed one machine of ours), but Firefox is a great browser that I’ve talked about many times before. Heck, I even have a spreadfirefox blog (I think I do anyway, been awhile since I last updated it). As Meat Loaf would say: two out of three ain’t bad.

I added the smallest buttons to the right of every category page except for Current Events which remains ad-free.

Jensense has more details:

When you login to your AdSense account, you will see a new tab for the referral program, which you will need to opt-in to if you plan to promote it. You have official buttons you can place on your website, and you need to use the code exactly as it is given to you. There are no options for text links at this time.

Bummer on the text links. I’d much rather use these as approved text links where relevant.

In other Google News, Brin and Page bought a used Boeing 767 wide bodied airplane that after modification will be estimated to carry 50 passengers. The article indicated that they paid less than $15 million for it. Pocket change for the Googlers who are worth more than $20 billion.

  1. I think it’s great that Googles’ pimping the best browser around. There’s some funny sites appearing telling people how to notify their IE users that there are better options too which is also good!
