Stepping definitively into The Twilight Zone |
Was at Walmart Costco yesterday and bought the first three DVD collections of The Definitive Twilight Zone Season 1, 2, and 3. These things are literally jammed with gems from the first three seasons of the best 30 minute show ever to be on television.

Apparently Season 4 is out but I couldn’t find it there or at Best Buy. They were running this deal that you could save $25 instantly when you buy Season 4. Cool deal considering the price of each DVD collection was $58.99, which is the cheapest I’ve seen these collections anywhere.
The rub? According to the Amazon product page, Season 4 doesn’t come out until Tuesday October 18, 2005. I wonder if they will still honor the $25 off when that collection comes out next week?
For readers that didn’t know, I’m a huge TZ fan. I subscribed to the magazine in the 80’s, watched the TV show when it came on in syndication, purchased one of the Laser Disc TZ collections, have bought some of the prior TZ DVD collections (1, 2 and 5, didn’t buy 3 or 4). Serling is one of my favorite writers. The black and white format of TZ is television at its finest. The stuff they would do later in color just never seemed to have the magic of the original. The single season with Forest Whittaker had a few decent episodes but Whittaker is no Serling, I don’t know what they were thinking?
In the picture above just in front of my tablet you can see the dog-eared Twilight Zone Companion book (it’s literally falling apart) by Marc Scott Zircree. Sort of the TZ bible, fans might say.
But it’s growing late now and I must venture into that vast DVD space, an area which we like to call … The Twilight Zone!

I used to love this show but haven’t seen any of the episodes in years. Okay, decades. There was one episode that as a kid…okay sometimes even as an adult…that scared the crap out of me when I went to bed at night:
-girl falls out of her bed (really under her bed) and ends up in another dimension–oh so Twilight
