Sony LocationFree on PSP |
Sony is selling something that seems very similar to the SlingBox called the LocationFree PlayerPak [instruction manual pdf]:
The LFA-PK1 LocationFree® Player Pak gives you the ability to view live TV, recorded TV (via DVR), VHS tapes or DVDs from your home to your computer over a broadband internet connection. The Player Pak includes the LocationFree base station and easy to install LocationFree Player for PC.
LocationFree is $100 more expensive than the Slingbox at $349, but it carries features the SlingBox doesn’t have like:
1) LocationFree on your PSP.
2) the ability to hook up two devices instead of only one (see instruction manual). There are two INput ports, one with S-Video/component and one component. With the Slingbox you’d have to buy another device ($249) making LocationFree a better value for more than one device.
Part of the instructions left me wondering if I’d have the full functionality of the TV like I do with the SlingBox so I don’t know if it’s right to compare these two devices one to one. Any LoctaionFree Player users out there who use Comcast PVR and SlingBox? Can you get access to the OnDemand functions through LocationFree?
It would be way cool to watch PVR’d programs through the PSP. I just might spring for one of these devices.

Slingbox for PSP COntains more Features than Location free player + You Can Watch digital Tv in It . like Sky / Ntl …etc . And Any Channel you want.Not only your local tv + Many More in Your PSP ….dude That Good

Well, since there is no such thing as “Slingbox for the PSP” I don’t see how you can make such a statement Oni.
