Alternate Memeorandum domain name suggestion list

customer adventures, television — by TDavid @ 4:46 pm PST

Yesterday on CNN’s The Situation Room they mentioned Memeorandum (politics). No mention of the tech version. By the time I got out of my chair to get a screenshot it was too late.

I decided to email Memeorandum’s creator Gabe Rivera about the sighting. Turns out he wasn’t aware of the mention. Gabe did some digging and found the transcript:

This site here, memorandum.com, aggregates all the bloggers talking about a certain article at any one point, and this one has been at the top all day, this column. Lots of people on the left and the right — pretty much balance of people talking about it. On the right, not everyone agreeing, but there’s certainly a lot of them.

Unfortunately, as I had been concerned about the first time I saw the domain: CNN misspelled the domain (see quote above).

Ironically, the top logo was in clear sight on the show for 15 or so seconds, so viewers could have spelled it right if they actually wrote it down from the logo fast enough. Good luck. This is an area where TV still sucks and the internet wins.

Gabe did a good job coming up the tool, now let’s help him come up with some easier to spell domain names so his service can get some juice instead of misspellings like this.

I just checked that all the domains below are available as of my writing, so hurry and register, Gabe, if you like any of them. Who knows if any/all of them will be available by the time you read this.

Easier to spell alternate Memeorandum domain names
peakvoices.com
riverabot.com
gabewrap.com
yoynews.com (why-oh-why news)
blendermatic.com
tossednews.com
bloggedby.com
blogfountain.com
blogbubbler.com
dynomice.com (sounds cool, powerful, like dynomite, but dubious relevancy)
unewsme.com (also available: younewsme.com)
iwantmynews.tv

Readers, if you’d like to add to the suggestion list of appropriate alternative easier to spell domain names for Memeorandum then please use the comment area below and indicate that they are available as of the time you commented.

Please do not use the area to promote your domain registration services (you are welcome to use your sig URL space for that information, though). Let’s not spam Gabe, let’s try to help him find something better.

Thank you.

  1. Hah, thanks, you’ve made me go “hmmm…”. If I called it “Riverabot”, would Fox News, home of Geraldo, link me?

The funny thing about that mispelling: I’ve done it too, on my original “about” page.

Anyway, I’ll watch what happens here and check my email. But given the costs of changing a name, I may need to wait for something incredibly apt and memorable to come along. I’m setting the bar rather high.

Of course for any NEW sections, verticles I might launch, I’ll much more readily use a new name…

  2. In a way your tool is a little bit like an artificial Geraldo. Could you imagine a logo with his signature mustache? Exploring the Al Capone vaults, and plunging into the depths of OJ’s psyche, it’s riverabot!

  3. […] Unfortunately that odd comment (difficult, I know) sets the tone for most of the interview, including the part where Gabe said he was waiting for the Techmeme.com domain to become available. Back when I suggested alternate domain names for tech.memeorandum.com (October 2005) he didn’t seem to have a name in mind yet, instead saying: But given the costs of changing a name, I may need to wait for something incredibly apt and memorable to come along. I’m setting the bar rather high. […]
