Yahoo Site Explorer and Site Explorer API |
My admiration for Yahoo’s killer APIs continues with a new entry, Yahoo! Site Explorer APIs:
… provide access to information about your site from the Yahoo! Site Explorer service. These APIs help you better understand your traffic and usage — querying for the pages in the Yahoo! index and the sites linking into a site. They will be useful to anyone looking for a good grasp of who is linking to you and to create an effective alternative to easily-spammed trackbacks.

I took the Yahoo Site Explorer service (beta) for a ride and found it showed a total number of inlinks for given URLs like this one (pictured above) and could be a useful stats/research tool. Added to my to-do list to include the inlinks information in some of the stats programs I use. Oooo, I can see some cool time being spent in the coding mines. Thank you, Yahoo!

This must have been writen by someone how works for Yahoo because their Site Explorer is a piece of shit! Literally, what garbage!

Um, no, I don’t work for and have never worked for Yahoo. I did buy and still own some of their stock, and I’ve written positively about their API (I do like their APIs) but that doesn’t sway my opinion on any of their existing or new products and services. You haven’t read enough posts around here to see how many times I’ve been critical of Yahoo, I guess. Try a search here for Yahoo and then see if you come up with the same impression.
And while here, instead of the anon attack route why don’t you list specifically what you do and don’t like about the site explorer? Who knows, maybe I’d agree with you on some of it. Thanks for reminding me that this service existed.
