Today's touch screen Tablet PC's require some more enhancement in technology like touch friendly browsers. Asus' tiny T91 (8.9 inch netbook), Eee PC S101 (10 inch, price tag $999) are some of the latest arrivals.

I disagree with you opinion of convertible tablet pcs. For many of us, both functions are necessary... especially if we utilize only one pc. My situation is unique to yours. I am a student. A convertible is perfect for me. I need a convertible. It allows me to take notes and draw diagrams in class, but ALSO to write term papers, etc. Using programs like onenote help me utilize the tablet functions for that which I need them for; bare-bones microsoft word helps me with the rest. As a student, I can't afford to cart around two computers to keep my life in order. Nor do I want to. I like to keep everything in the same place. A convertible helps me do that.

I totally agree with your viewpoint. I have been researching my tablet PC purchase for almost 6 months, and I still cannot convince myself that the added value found in tablet screen outweighs the price premium for my regular office-related tasks. Not to mention that the poor performance and video specs in most of them completely make them useless for any multimedia tasks. External optical drives are another kick in the rear end... why have a laptop if you cannot watch DVDs?
Unless there is some breakthrough in the next year, I think tablet PC's might become leapfrogged by flexible LED screens or something.
Anybody have any word on how Windows Vista will make Tablets more viable?
