Geeks Squad feeling the heat in California |

Somebody call the Governator, Best Buy’s $100+ per house/office call Geek Squad is in trouble!
The California Highway Patrol says the Geek Squad’s black-and-white Volkswagen Beetles, dubbed “Geekmobiles,” look too much like patrol cars and could present a safety hazard. They’re serious; patrol officers ticketed a “geek” in Walnut Creek, Calif., a Bay Area suburb.
I saw this and laughed. Firstly, because it’s such a ridiculous concern by the CHiPs. People pulling over because they mistake the Geek Squad beetle for a police car? And when was the last time any motorist pulled over for a policeman that didn’t have its car lights flashing or using his intercom to tell you to get out of the way?
I’ve seen those Geek Squad cars and always thought they were pretty snazzy but their official website (shown above) isn’t very user friendly: primarily Flash-based, linking to PDF docs you can download to help (grrr, am I the only one that hates PDF-only docs?). Sure, the website might look nice, but thye must not want much link love from others. Guess that makes some sense, they don’t want people looking at their website, they want them calling and making the cash register to ring — kaching!
Did this post make you go hmm?
