Media Portal a Windows MythTV alternative |
For those who don’t want to install MythTV on Linux or shell out the extra bones for a Windows Media Center 2005 box, here comes Media Portal:
MediaPortal turns your PC in a very advanced Multi-Media Center / HTPC. It allows you to listen to your favorite music & radio, watch your video’s and DVD’s, view, schedule and record live TV and much more. You get Media Portal for free/nothing/nada/nopes and best of all it is opensource.
You’ll need a 1.4 GHz or higher CPU, 256MB RAM and 12 GB HDD space for timeshifting recording and a DX9 Compatible video card (for best performance). Full requirements listed here.
I haven’t installed it yet, but it is bookmarked. Anybody else try it? How does it compare to Windows Media Center 2005 and MythTV?
Speaking of MythTV, for those who want to build their own MythTV / Gentoo Linux powered PC for $500, check this guy’s specs out.
Did this post make you go hmm?
