While Skype is overwhelmed and excited by the 500+ emails they received from developers who want to get busy with “coming soon” development APIs for SkypeWeb/SkypeNet, Google is actually delievering the goods via code.google.com: There are interfaces in multiple languages, including Python, PHP, Java and C#, and the Jabber Software Foundation maintains a healthy list of libraries on their site.
