My car ran out of gasoline about 2 years ago while I was on a reasonably high traffic street in Clear Lake (a suburb of Houston). There wasn't a gas station around for at least 2-3 miles. About five minutes after this occurred, a very nice couple stopped to offer me help -- they drove me to a nearby gas station where I bought a portable gas tank and a gallon or two of gas and they drove me back to my car and waited until I had my car started again. I was astounded and humbled by their kindness.
