Blogpulse profiles |

Blogpulse has been coming out with more and more blog-related stats. Their newest feature is called BlogPulse Profiles (beta) which offers six tabs with various pieces of information about a blog: overview, posts, citations, trends, sources, neighborhood. BlogPulse describes their service as: “a window into the blogosphere…open it daily to discover the people, issues, blogs, posts, commentaries, tidbits and news that bloggers are discussing.”
Did this post make you go hmm?

I tried out their charting feature - it’s a great concept for aiding search. You click on the peaks to see what was driving the concept you’re researching at any point in time. Of course it’s usually some event - an election, a disaster, etc. (You could probably click on the troughs and find them instructive, though how is not so obvious.)
As search becomes more sophisticated I could see how such a chart could measure ‘positive’ and ‘negative’ memes. This requires algorithms capable of parsing such concepts, but some crude version of same is probably not that far off.
