Some things never change. To cancel Yahoo Music Jukebox dial 866.562.7228, #5. It took me two hours to find this source. I was two days into my "Free" trial period and it crashed my system twice, it burned only half of the songs that I selected and they tried to charge me during the free period.

As bad as Yahoo was, Rhapsody was worst. Make sure you read the fine print (twice) regarding "free" trial period or expect a big surprise if you cancel Rhapsody during the initial 14 days.

As far as Napster "hiding" the cancel button, this is not intentional. You most likely have some unusual configuration or setting in your internet explorer. You may want to try clearing the temporary internet files and cookies and trying again. If some graphics aren't displaying in Napster it is a problem with your internet explorer, not an actual problem with Napster. Sometimes people are missing the "buy" button, do you think Napster is trying to make it so they can't spend money? No. It's because of an error in IE or in Java.

To the person who was unable to stream tracks in Yahoo music, try reinstalling Windows Media Player or even upgrading to a newer version. Sometimes Windows updates will cause you to lose the ability to stream. If you look in your windows media player and go to Tools/Options and click on the network tab, you'll see the bottom section has nothing listed. HTTP and at LEAST 1 other protocol should be listed. If nothing is listed, you will not be able to stream. This is not a problem with the yahoo service, it's a problem with YOUR media player. Again, try to reinstall it. Hope some of this has helped.

Doug for Yahoo just summed up Yahoo for me. This Yahoo music was a waste of my time to even sign up for. IF I NEEDED HELP you made it too difficult. Not that I am an idiot. Not hard to figure out this mess but what a scam from the start. Monthly fee for your "Free player" which the player wants to charge me to download music when I signed up for an unlimited account.

The guy starts the post by asking how to cancel his account and that is how I found this post. Yet he doesn't ANSWER THE QUESTION. See answering the question would be helpful try adding that to your customer experience Doug.

You want my money at yahoo for music downloads. K.I.S.S. Keep it simple stupid. I don't want your player. It doesn't work on a 64 bit system. Let me just buy the music and download it without your "Experience" mucking up what should be a simple operation.

My dream MP3 site. I pay, I log in, I download. If there isn't enough money in that then don't be afraid to tell the artists to piss off.

To cancel Napster's 7 day free trial online click on 'My Account' then 'cancel free trial' at the bottom of the pop-up, just like Napster tells you. What they don't tell you is that there's no visible link to cancel your subscription after you've read the "here's what you'll be missing" rubbish that they give you.

To find the link you need to move you mouse pointer around in the white space below the text until it turns from an arrow to a pointing finger. There are 2 links: 'Cancel free trial' and 'Keep free trial'. Hover for a few seconds and a small text box will tell you which link you are over.

After clicking the cancel free trial link a cancellation form appears which asks your reasons for leaving. I told them in no uncertain terms that I found their deliberate attempt to hide the unsubscribe links appalling. I then went to hit submit and found that I had to go through the same process as on the last page! Anyways, after a bit of searching with my mouse pointer I finally managed to find the submit button and complete the cancellation.

Hope this helps people out.

Cancelling Napster.
Think you've go problems in the USA, Trying to cancel in the UK is harder still, the phone number is London and is not free. Also, where you pay $9.95 a month, we pay £9.95 a month, nearly double. I found it quite hard to find the number in the first place, and can find no reference to any physical address in the UK.

Thanks for your wonderful site, a real help to us victims of corporate greed.

I'm having problems cancelling Yahoo's music trial period (I'm getting the same run-around with MusicMatch and Rhapsody!), and this is one of the first site's google turned up searching for "yahoo music cancel free trial." I was able to cancel MusicMatch phoning 1-888-814-2524 (a number I found at complaints.com, not on their website).

I think Yahoo had better shape up and make it easier to cancel free trials, or they're going to be getting some pretty PR in the blogosphere and other internet fora! (I'll post an update below when/if I'm successful at canceling the Yahoo Music service....)

To cancel Napster online, send a e-mail to support@napster.com informing them since you signed up online, you are canceling your service online (NOTE: you are INFORMING what you are doing… *NOT* asking if this method of canceling is accepted).

Date/Timestamp the e-mail and inform Napster this is an official notice, and further credit card transactions from Napster will be considered fraudulent since the business relationship between you and Napster has been formally canceled (keep a copy, preferably paper, of this e-mail for your records).

Then call your credit card company (just to be safe) and ask them to flag/block any future payments to Napster (they should be able to do this).

Napster may say to call them to cancel, however they have no legal barring over requiring a phone call as the only method to cancel. You signed up for Napster online; thus you will cancel the same way.

If they ignore your request then they can deal with the charge-back fees that will be charged to them through their merchant account (usually ~$30).

Be sure to keep a copy of the e-mail you send for your records (incase Napster ends up charging your credit card and you have to sign an avadavat for the credit card company and provide any proof).

This letter dated 3-30-06 is a formal notification of my cancellation of the Napster Subscription for $9.95 a month.

Future charges from Napster after 3-30-06 will be considered fraudulent unauthorized charges and will be reported to the issuing credit card company.

Thank you for the service you have provided thus far and please consider making online cancellation an easier process in the future.

That sucks having to call to cancel Napster. I don't recall it being that way always but if/when we do cancel that is surely to annoy me. If you can sign up for it on the web, then you should be able to cancel. I hope if really works this way (I haven't verified) then it is changed ASAP :(

I'm having similar Napster problems! Complete "non-service" if you ask me. They appear to make it deliberately difficult to cancel a free trial so they can at least get the first payment off you.

I signed up to be able to listen to a "free" playlist. The promotional material did not say I would not be able to download the playlist, so that was disappointing. Just before the end of my free trial I followed the steps to cancel my free trial, couldn't find the button they mentioned, filled in a help request form trying to use "Cancel membership" as a subject title which didn't let me complete the form. I find that sort of thing deceitful and unhelpful.
