Gnomedex taps out internet access

blogs and podcasting, travel — by TDavid @ 2:17 pm PST

Heard a little bit ago on the Gnomedex Live feed from Chris Pirillo that Gnomedex has tapped out the internet access. He was encouraging attendees to turn off the RSS aggregators and ease up on the downloading. Therefore, you may or may not be able to get access to the live stream (it dropped on me badly at first, but has gotten a little better as time has gone on, so they are clearly working on it), but if you can the might want to drop a few bones in their tip jar so they can buy some bigger pipe next year. Guess this is a good advertisement for buying a ticket to Gnomedex 6.0, also! I did send along a PayPal donation for the stream, BTW.

Wish I could have been there, but just not in the cards this year. Next year, if it’s not in the summertime and somewhere west of Chicago, then I’ll be there joining other Gnomies.

Other Gnomedex links of interest
- del.icio.us gnomedex and gnomedex2005
- Feedster - keyword gnomedex
- Technorati - keyword search gnomedex (pictured above). Notice the interesting keyword searches that Gnomedex is competing with? Music, dogs, coffee, camera, movie, cheap, awful, worthless and sports? Why are people searching so much for ‘dogs’ and ‘worthless’?
- Flickr (photos) gnomedex and gnomedex2005
- Official Lockergnome chatroom: irc.wyldryde.org #lockergnome [java chat]
- Planet Gnomedex - unofficial site build around an aggregation of data associated with Gnomedex 5.0
- Jason Calacanis and company launched an ad-free WeblogsInc site: Blogging Gnomedex. So far coverage there is kind of sparse, for example nothing on Dave Winer’s keynote yet (the event just got started though) but as the day progresses I’m sure this will be another good spot to check out. Although Darren Barefoot summarizes Winer’s keynote.

As I write this, Dean Hachamovitch is speaking. I was kind of surprised (in a good way) to learn that Microsoft actually had an RSS division. I saw somebody make note of this earlier.
