Star Wars Galaxies MMORPG on Tablet PC |

Last weekend we tried out the MMORPG Everquest on the M1400 Tablet PC. This weekend we gave Star Wars Galaxies a try. The last time I picked this game up was nearly two years ago when it first launched.

Players start out on the ship learning some basics about how to check inventory and equip a weapon and then it’s down to Tatooine.

I created a Wookie character. No chance putting “chewy” in the name, so I put as close to that name as I could get. Wookies are cool warriors. Figured it would be best to start with one of those. We’ve actually owned the original game (Empire Divided) since it came out but we only played it for a month or two and then shelved it. Today we bought the “The Total Experience” for $29.99 which contained the original version plus the two expansion packs: Rage of the Wookies and Jump To Lightspeed that have been released since then. Unlike Everquest, we didn’t play it long enought to develope any characters beyond the first few levels.

One of the first player combat missions was to travel to a nearby village and attack characters which barely fought back. You have to run past some creatures that will easily kill your character. I died once before figuring out to just sprint past them and not try to fight. Didn’t seem like they would give much chase, but they would attack if too close to them.

Check out that ultra cool moon overhead in the picture below. Ships occasionally pass overhead as well making a woo-osh sound as they race off into the distance. Really gives you the feeling that you are in the Star Wars universe.

After battling your character becomes fatigued and the suggestion is to go to the catina. I went there to find the familiar Star Wars cantina music. The picture below shows that it can get crowded and difficult to find characters you are supposed to “converse” with.

Alas, I parked my Wookie down in a seat next to the speakers. Another day, another adventure.
Did this post make you go hmm?
