blo.gs now with Yahoo |
While on the subject of buyouts, yesterday Jim Winstead announced that Yahoo had bought the pinging service blo.gs:
this is the sort of good home that i was looking for — yahoo! obviously has the resources to run and improve blo.gs in pace with the incredible growth of blogs (and syndication in general), and in talking with them it was also clear that we had some of the same vision for the future of the service and the ping/notification infrastructure.
Yahoo already has an RPC2 pinging service and I wonder if most bloggers are pinging Yahoo that already ping blo.gs too, but blo.gs has been around longer (as a pinging service, that is) and probably came at a decent price. This would have been a good move for Ask Jeeves to compliment Bloglines. Too late.
An almost non-event in the Yahoo stock price yesterday in reaction to this buyout. As of this writing blo.gs had 12,303 registered users and reported tracking 8,801,581 blogs.
Did this post make you go hmm?
