Jim Rome to start offering podcasts |
Just heard Jim Rome say on today’s Jim Rome show that he “loves podcasting” — then he proceeded to explain that streamlink subscribers (I used to be one, it’s like $6.95/month) will be able to get the (paraphrasing) “wave file downloaded to your desktop.” I’m thinking Jim meant Windows Media File as I seriously doubt they’ll be serving up uncompressed .wav files, but wow … it was interesting hearing him break out of one of his legendary sports takes to mention this. Not sure if he’ll be delivering the entire (three hour) show this way or if it will be just remixed pieces or snippets.
Checked Jim’s website and didn’t see anything about this there yet, but according to Jim minutes ago live on his show, it is coming.
For those who aren’t familiar with Jim’s work, he is one of the most popularity sports radio hosts with his legendary “jungle” and “clones” listening. I stopped paying for the streamlink subscription to the jungle after buying the RadioShark.
Did this post make you go hmm?

Yes, Clear Channel made some mention of this last week (link below). I think it’s totally exciting to see radio legends like Jim Rome joining in the sports podcasting movement. And for those who’ve heard my show, you know I’m huge Rome guy, from the same town, listening since the early 90s. Really, he’s my biggest influence without even knowing it.
Hey, I even tried to get MySportsRadio.com ’s Steve Carbone to mention podcasting during the Jungle Smack-Off last month, but we agreed the Rome clones weren’t ready for it. Welcome to the community Jim. But hey, only WE have the first Mike Tyson podcast interview (another link below).
