It’s official: Apple to use Intel |
It’s official now, no more rumours. Straight from Steve Jobs. Apple is switching to Intel processors.
Coverage of the WWDC live is happening via macobserver and here’s the defining quotes as told through attendees blogging the event:
10:29am PST: [Steve Jobs] talked about IBM missing the 3 GHz mark for the G5, and in not being able to put one in a PowerBook.
10:29am PST: Why? Because we want to be making the best computers for our customers.
10:30am PST: Says that Intel offers a better roadmap for the markets that Apple services.
10:30am PST: It will begin a Mac with Intel processors by June 6th, 2006, as reports said. It should be complete by June 2007.
This is almost as a good as a webcast, as MacObserver is sort of IRC-to-webbing it. Follow along and watch this unfold in almost real time.
