Y! Music has DRM flaw, says CIS |
Speaking of announcements, FranciscoIV just tipped me off to Chaplin Information Services claiming that Y! Music may have a DRM flaw:
Standard accounts and Internet equipment are being used to pinpoint the cause of the problem. At this time, Yahoo has not acknowledged the CIS security report.
Allegedly the flaw will allow standard users to use “standard tools” (whatever that means) to access music files without the DRM. I think the important part of this report is what I bolded above. Until Yahoo says something official about this or CIS or somebody else steps up with more information (which they probably won’t do for threat of RIAA action), I wouldn’t give this report too much credibility.
