Oliver Stone arrested for DUI and drug possession — again

movies — by TDavid @ 8:08 pm PST

The headline “Oliver Stoned” in Google sucked me in. Here’s the list to read more takes on essentially the same story told repeatedly by dozens of different media outlets.

Well, now add one from the blogosphere.

Academy Award winning directory Oliver Stone was stopped Friday night and arrested over suspicion of DUI and drug possession. In 1999, he pled no contest to DUI and guilty to a drug-possession charge. Writes zap2it:

Beverly Hills police are not disclosing what type of drug Stone was allegedly carrying, saying they have to wait for the results of test on the substance.

Stone directed one of my favorite movies: JFK. He won an award for Platoon in 1986. He’s also responsible for some godawful flicks like Alexander. Could this be why he’s out allegedly getting all lit up?

Maybe the judge will direct Oliver Stone to the nearest treatment center — again — and perhaps next time his favorite bartender will direct him to a designated driver? Good thing nobody got hurt. Nice work, Beverly Hills police for directing Stone to the hole.

Stone posted $15,000 bail and is out.

  1. Wow how unique another moronic Hollywood type neck high in his addiction. Oh yeah, I’m sure Ollie doesn’t have a problem, just some dumb luck getting caught driving around in a 2 ton weapon in an inebriated condition with drugs again! Let him do 6 months in jail where he can find G-D and get involved in a 12 step program. Obviously the first time around was not a sufficient bottom for the spoiled brat.

Listen I could go on forever but I’ll refrain. Suffice to say that money, property and prestige are no guarantee for common sense and taking responsibility for oneself. Oliver, get some help, follow someone else’s direction and shut the F up!

  2. I still don’t get why all these rich folks don’t just get their Chauffeurs to drive them around…

  3. First off, all you people need to look at yourselves. Who are any of you to criticize a man who has accomplished more in a decade then all of you have had in your lives? Is anybody so pure that they can freely criticize someone else knowing that they themselves are “innocent” or free of any kind of regret or guilt? Sure, Oliver Stone drinks, and hell, he may even have some kind of problem with his drinking and doing drugs or want not, but please realize, they are HIS problems. It is up to him what he does. Nobody has any business talking, or bitching, or doing whatever about Stone. In fact, if he wasn’t such a widely known and popular movie director, if he was Uncle Jack or Aunt Susie, or even Mom or Dad, who would care? Would millions of people know? Or, what if it was you? Would you want to be constantly talked about badly? Because Stone is well known around the world does that mean that he should be a “role-model” of sorts? Why should he meet, or have to meet, “America’s standards”; or any others’ for that matter? An individual will remain an individual, no matter what other people say. Especially if they are millionaire who are well-known around the world. Now, is that right? Maybe, maybe not. But, is it up to anybody else to decide or critique over? I don’t think so. So next time any of you go to critique someone else, stop to take a look at yourselves any maybe you can even go so far as to ask yourselves, “What makes me so much better?”.

  4. Welcome Dberger, how do you know this: “… a man who has accomplished more in a decade then all of you have had in your lives?”

  5. Well I don’t drink and drive… Those who do are a menace and should not be allowed to drive. I suppose when a loved one of yours is killed by a drunk driver you will change your tune. My take was someone with so much money, and does really know better could have had someone else drive him…
