Google Page Rank on the fritz or something new in the works? |
I haven’t paid much attention to the displayed Google Page Rank (PR) since Google themselves said the number was for “entertainment purposes only” and I uninstalled the Google Toolbar after their annoying Autolink feature. However, I’ve been seeing lots of folks talking about how the PR seems to be completely fubared at the moment. No official word yet, as the Google Labs and blog are quiet on what’s happening, at least as of this writing.
A few bloggers heard ’round the web:
Daily SEO: “It is still early to comment on the situation certainly, but I am sure Google will come up with an announcement or the time will show if today is the end of Google PR.”
MLM Leads Blog: “This weekend, marketers all around the world don’t believe what they are seeing.”
John leaves the following comment: “The google PR toolbar and online page rank checkers stopped working today, maybe they are going about implementing Trust Rank now? ”
Martin Lemieux: “Without the Google PR, many people won’t be able to prove their results nor will they have that “fake respect” that you get from having a website with PR 7/10.”
Wild Wolf Webmasters Blog: “is it a screw up or is it intentional?”
Floobo: “I guess toolbar-PR is NOT a priority concern for them, why would it be?”

Omfg, you talked about me. I’m so proud, rofl.
