Is (Carrie) Underwood the underdog tonight or will Bo Bice bite it? Only one can win tonight’s American Idol season 4 showdown. I think in the spirit of long live rockers, Bo must be crowned tonight, although Carrie Underwood is certainly worthy if she is crowned the Idol champ alongside Kelly Clarkson, Rubben Studdard and Fantasia. Personally I think the talent overall has gotten weaker since Clarkson and season one but I did like that there was a notable rocker presence this year. Too bad Constantine didn’t make it further in the competition. A rocker showdown would really have been cool.

But then there is a show starting next Thursday, June 2, Hit Me Baby One More Time on NBC which sounds like American Idol for 80’s hit artists. In the commercials they hinted that maybe we’d hear from Air Supply and Loverboy, among others, but nothing confirmed. Would be cool to see a bunch of 80’s bands that people think are washed up in an American Idol-style competition. We have already PVR’d this one. My wife is interested also in Hell’s Kitchen where that chef goes all Simon Cowell on other chefs. C’mon Fox, bring back the most intense gameshow of all time: The Chamber!

Yeah, it’s late but I wonder who do you think will win tonight? Bo or Carrie? Or do you so not even care?

Update: Nice touch with the other bands, including Lynyrd Skynyrd (what’s left of the original band anyway). Congratulations to the winner (and I won’t spoil it for those who have PVR’d it).
