Tablet PC falters during Microsoft presentation, Linux w/OpenOffice to the rescue |
I’ll admit it, this headline sucked me in: Microsoft Russia saved by GNU/Linux and Openoffice.org
.
Upon further reading I noticed this:
A presentation about Shared Source (SSI) by the head of Microsoft Ukraine was almost ruined when the Windows machine (a Tablet PC) linked to the projector developed problems.
And then these comments by Michael Shigorin:
It is the Tablet PC which failed to feed the projector on the secondary head properly to blame
The presenter’s IBM Thinkpad was running Linux with OpenOffice, so they used the presenter used that instead. Click on the thumbnail to visit the source site see a larger image. Probably if they used the tablet for 100 other presentations there wouldn’t be a hitch. Guess they better not use any Timex type ‘tablet takes a licking and keeps on presenting’ slogans.
Did this post make you go hmm?
