Nintendo Revolution totes backwards compatibility + Internet connectivity |
It’s not just Xbox and PS3 preparing new systems for the next year. Nintendo is on the map as well with their Revolution system.
… will launch in 2006, giving users access to more than 20 years of games from past Nintendo consoles. The Revolution, roughly the size of three stacked DVD cases, will feature wireless controllers, built-in wireless Internet access, and an add-on for DVD playback.
Nintendo has had a pretty sanctimonious attitude, IMO, about Internet-enabled games, so it will be interesting to see how they handle this in Revolution. They still make some of the best games but one has to wonder with their reported 19% console gaming share when or if they will give up like Sega did and just make games? It would be exciting to play some of those ultra cool Nintendo titles on Xbox live. Maybe someday.
Did this post make you go hmm?
