[...] I have been watching a number of interesting predictions among those in the technology prediction realm and overall, most of it has been fairly spot on. I myself had a run of good luck with the belief that podcast content ought to be spread onto the satellite services such as Sirius or XM. A short time later, Adam Curry made this happen by bringing podcasting to Sirius bandwagon. Coincidence? Most likely, yes. After all, podcasting was red hot at the time and it is possible Adam and I had been on the same page at the time. It’s really hard to say for sure. [...]

[...] The price seems a bit steep at $360 USD, considering folks can go get a 40 GB iPod for about the same cost. Sure, it won’t also bring in Sirius satellite radio portably, but then it doesn’t come with a monthly subscription. I’ve looked at satellite radio a few times, most recently when Adam Curry started doing his new podcast show, but I’ve not heard many positive reviews of his show so haven’t made the plunge. Also, Howard Stern isn’t coming to Sirius until 2006. I really doubt I’d listen to it that much when there are so many other audio options (podcasts, live radio via RadioShark, existing CDs and MP3, Y! Music, etc) and that’s the bottom line, isn’t it? [...]

Fair use will come into play if it's just snippets, which is what I think it's primarily going to be, FranciscoIV. He already does that on his podcast. I don't think Curry is going to be digging in for significant parts of podcasts unless they are creative commons licensed for commercial use, but then again, he's the same guy who at one time was playing RIAA music without a license (do a search through this blog and you'll find that past piece), so who knows. I would imagine Sirius legal staff though is going to have some sort of content control over this.

Umm, so, the podcasters themselves won't see much other than exposure... Hopefully the feeds will at least have their URLs mentioned??? If not then what's the use? If you have commercials in your podcasts will they get edited out? This may border on leeching at best and copyright infringement at worst.
