Winer thinks Gnomedex 5.0 will be “like Woodstock” |

Of course Winer is biased, he’s the keynote of Gnomedex 5.0 (say, what happened to Adam Curry?). When I saw the comparison to Woodstock I laughed out loud. Dave says some pretty trippy things but he can’t be serious on this one! Woodstock had hundreds of thousands of people in attendence, it was an all-day historical, iconic musical event. Gnomedex is going to have, what, 300 bloggers in attendence? With all due respect to Gnomedex, and hopefully no bruised egos here, but I’m sure Pirillo would be ecstatic to have people just say that they even remember that Gnomedex 5.0 existed in 10 years, much less the 35+ years that have passed since Woodstock. And the man on the street? Forget about it.

So no, you aren’t keynoting even a remote facsimile of Woodstock, Dave, just a blogger’s event that will be of primary importance to mostly other bloggers and not the general populace. Reality check. He’s joking. He’s got to be!
So on that humorous note …
Who is going to play Jimi Hendrix? Carlos Santana? I put this one in the Photoshop It category as well as travel because this one begs to have some creative photoshopping. Go ahead, photoshop Gnomedex 5.0 attendees to appear like they were actually at Woodstock!
Did this post make you go hmm?

WiFi *AND* Power Strips, thank you.
I think Dave’s speaking to the feeling / karma that follows. The momentum of Gnomedex 4 has carried through to 5, which (in our world) is just about as close to Woodstock as we might get. Only partial nudity, however - which has been recorded for the annals of history.
There’s no “Woodstockiness” in COMDEX, CES, et al.

24 minutes after publishing — on a Saturday night in fact — you were here, Chris, I’m impressed! You must have your aggregator on super alert status!
BTW, those power strips will most definitely be a welcomed addition.
