We picked up Doom 3 for the Xbox last night from the local Fred Meyer store. Later, we were shopping at another Fred Meyer closer to our home and I spotted the Collector’s Edition (was sold out at the other store, apparently) so before opening the other we exchanged and paid the extra 10 bones to get the original Doom, Doom 2 and Ultimate Doom. These Collector’s Edition versions of games are a great marketing idea. I should have looked for the Collector’s Edition first. Even though we already have the other Doom games on the PC it was cool to get these older games to play through the history with the family.

Doom 3 on the PC [review] is graphically better of course , but it still looks pretty sharp on an HDTV. If you are on Xbox Live the gamertag we share as a family is TJSNK. The kids are usually on there playing Halo 2, but they seem to like Doom 3 as well.
