Inking on the Channel 9 messageboard |

For those with Tablet PCs, you can now post in ink on the Channel 9 messageboard. Couple quick comments:
- images generated from the ink are around 10k, so 10 inked posts on a page are going to weigh in around 100k or so just for the inked images
- no ability (yet) to quote from prior inked post
- no ink-to-text conversion for those of us with almost illegible handwriting
Business application? Some. This is a concept that would probably work best for a board where shared drawings and text were frequently discussed and exchanged or a website specifically devoted to Tablet PC users. Someone posted and I believe he called it “awkward” for a messageboard. A lot more folks commented that it was neat. Is it something that will make somebody go out and buy a Tablet PC? Probably not, although at least one person did mention it was a motivator.
One thing I wish Channel 9 would do is format their messageboard based on the resolution. I use my Tablet in portrait mode most the time and their board doesn’t look very good in this mode. They should be able to detect the version — I mean it is slated towards the Tablet PC, right? — and adjust the template so that the output fits optimally in portrait mode.
All in all, though, if you have a tablet, you might want to check this out and leave a few inked comments.
