Will the PSP have an official web browser and email client? |
Loading ...Sony PSP product manager John Koller gave an interview on 3/25/2005 and was asked a couple of interesting things about the PSP. One, how would firmware updates be distributed? He answered that this by saying it would all happen through the PSP Network Settings and Infrastructure Mode.
The more curious question: will there be an official PSP browser? We already know there’s an unofficial one:
xJoshx: There have been rumors about the next update haveing a web browser and an email client included in it, is there any truth in this. If this is true when should we be expecting this update, and will the cost be free?
John Koller: To xJoshx: There will be several firmware updates to address upcoming changes. The cost for firmware updates will be free. Wipeout Pure actually has a browser embedded in the code, but you are only able to access their downloadable content page - which will go live within the next 1-2 months.
That would be sweet. He also said that 47 total games would be available by the end of 2005. At an average of $39 each, that’s $1,833 USD worth of games. Of course not all of them will be worth buying. I’m still hooked on the puzzler, Lumines. I’m not very good, but I’m digging it, big time.
Man TDavid, now I’m going to have to break down and get one for each of the family!!!
