Update: This special MakeYouGoHmm reader offer has been extended until May 5, 2005 — hurry, act now! Also, as of April 28, RegNow takes PayPal.

Are you a Google Adsense affiliate? Ever wish you could hover over an icon in your Windows system tray and see your recent stats like this:

Many websites are using the Google Adsense these days. Heck, we started using on this blog a week ago on most entry pages and have been happy with how these contexual text ads are working so far. Sure, some pages the ads don’t match, but for the most part the Google Adsense program works very well serving relevant ads.

From a webmaster perspective, though, one of the hassles with Adsense is logging in and checking the stats. Man, that session timer must be set to like self-destruct in five minutes or something! (Google, please increase your session timer!) You strike up a conversation with somebody and then hit refresh and whammo — you have to login again! Depending on what screen you are on too, it might take awhile before your auto-login remember code in the browser catches every login screen so you don’t have to keep typing the password in again — or using something like roboform. Does this situation suck or what?

Time is money!

This is one of those annoying things where you say, boy I wish there was something to SECURELY (uses Triple DES encryption) login and provide this information with a simple mouseover. Cool concept, huh? Well, this morning I came across the Revenue Checker for Adsense which totally solves this problem and actually makes it fun to check Google Adsense stats instead of time consuming and frustrating.

The Revenue Checker for Adsense sits in your Windows system tray, using minimal system resources, logs into your Google Adsense account and checks your stats at user-defined intervals. Want to check your stats every 20 minutes? Once an hour? Once every few hours? A couple times a day? No problem with the Revenue Checker for Adsense!

If you’re like me then you want stats. Want multi-colored stats and graphs? This thing is loaded! Check out these screenshots:

Want features like …

  • Channel Statistics
  • Specified or predefined time range statistics
  • Numeric and graphic chart display of statistics
  • Balloons on Update
  • Sound on update
  • Page impressions
  • Cost per click
  • Average per day
  • Average per hour
  • This Month (Estimated Earnings)
  • Clicks
  • Click-through rate
  • Effective CPM
  • Your earnings

All that’s included and more!

You’re probably skeptical of software that you’ve never heard of before. Especially one that involves money, I hear you. I don’t blame you because I am too. That’s why I downloaded a trial version myself first. The trial version allows three starts of the software before registration is required. Then, I checked their site forums to see what other users were saying about it:

TESTIMONIALS
“Looks EXCELLENT” - keywordguru
“I was using SysSense but this one looks really promising.” - juicee99 (same link as above)
“works nice… this is cool! and i thought i was neurotic by loggin gin every couple hours … i just may go nuts using this! LOL” - skattabrain

More testimonials, opinions and suggestions are here.

After deterimining that this had some serious potential I started using the Revenue Checker for Adsense for 15 minutes and I paid for a registered copy right away — it is that cool!

Yeah, I said “paid” … the Revenue Checker for Adsense isn’t a free application, unfortunately. But right now in April 2005 the vendor is offering $10 off the regular price of $49.99 so it’s $39.99 … but wait!

I liked this program so much that I wanted to do something special for MakeYouGoHmm readers. Something I’ve not done yet before here at this blog with a third party product. I wanted to work some special deal for the program. That means if you act now or act before the end of April 2005, you can get buy Revenue Checker for Adsense for not $49.99 or even the vendor’s own special April 2005 price of $39.99 , but the special MakeYouGoHmm April 2005 Reader rate of $33.99!. This is an awesome deal for a great program. To take advantage of this special deal, just click any of the Revenue Checker for Adsense links or the image below:

I just know you’ve been looking for something worthwhile to spend a tiny fraction of the money you got back from your tax return. Heck, this program is about the cost of two espressos a week for a month.

Still aren’t convinced? You are still reading and wondering if this is just some lame pitch from me just trying to sell you something to make a few extra bones? Yes, I’m trying to make a few extra bones, but I’m doing this with a program that I am using myself and — for a limited time — I want to pass along a special deal to you just for reading MakeYouGoHmm. But this deal isn’t going to last and the price will go back up again soon, so put this one on the download list and check it out ASAP.

I’ll admit that I had some other concerns about the use of software like this. Namely, will this violate Google Adsense TOS in any way? It would totally blow if I used this program and got kicked out of the program. Fortunately, there’s an interview yesterday (April 4, 2005) with the author of the program by Roxanne from cashkeywords.com (the bolding is mine) here that specifically addresses this issue:

Before this program was created, I made sure there’s no violation of Google TOS. Therefore, I believe that everyone should be safe using this program. Also, it’s worth mentioning that currently there are several hundred people using this program and, as far as I know, no one had his account disabled. Recently, one of my customers got curious and contacted Google AdSense team. I’ve got copied on this email and their answer was in the tone that it should be ok to run and use this program.

If you want to verify what the author said yourself then please write Google Adsense yourself and ask about it. Please CC me on the email, will you? TDavid at makeyougohmm dot com. In the meantime though, at the very least download the trial but remember to receive the special MakeYouGoHmm April 2005 Reader deal you must buy through the Revenue Checker for Adsense links here.

Remember, this special MakeYouGoHmm Reader deal is only good through April 30, 2005, so act before May 1st and save $$$!

  3. Do NOT pay for this software. Poorly written with many bugs. It also requires the bloated Microsoft .Net framework to work. Also, do you trust some unknown person / persons with your AdSense account login?

There are better programs and free scripts available for monitoring AdSense.

  4. Mark K - thank you for stopping by and leaving your opinion. Do you have any specific knowledge or evidence that there are any security concerns with Revenue Checker for Adsense? If you do, then please post or trackback them, but if you don’t then it’s only your opinion. And honestly, it is a bit irresponsible without specific evidence to the contrary, don’t you think?

As I said above, I bought this app, and I’m still using this app. I’ve used Fiddler to analyze the traffic and I’ve seen nothing that raises my concerns. So until you or somebody else shows me evidence proving otherwise, the answer to your question is: yes, I’d trust this particular application and author. I don’t think it’s authors, plural, it’s an independent developer.

After writing the piece above a friend pointed out the free Firefox extension for Google Adsense, but that isn’t as full-featured as this one (no graphs, no logging, etc). Also, if you check the history of that free extension the author wasn’t even using encryption to begin with (they are now), which means user Adsense account information was passing in plain text!

Yowsa, that worries me a lot more than than Revenue Checker For Adsense which uses Triple DES.

If there are bugs for the application, then visit the author’s forum and work with him. I haven’t had problems with it, though.

  5. When I started using Revenue Checker For Adsense in mid-April, there were some bugs and features missing. I joined the author’s forum to discuss the issues. Within minutes of posting, the author responded, then went to work on the bugs. Before posting the updated program to the public, he sent it to me directly in email so I could test it. Only when I was satisfied with the results, he made the update available to everyone else.

During the first 2 weeks we were in contact almost daily to discuss some of the potential addititions to the program. Since the affiliate link doesn’t have a sales page, I made my own and had it approved by the author the same day. With that kind of availability and response, what’s there not to trust? I recommend this program to ALL our clients who want to earn additonal money with Google AdSense. This is the best way to track your progress (CHANNEL SUPPORT ROCKS) so you can tweak your pages and earn more.

Never once have I had a problem with security. If you’re extra cautious, log into your AdSense account using bookmarks instead of the built-in link. But most of all, just let the program sit quietly in your system tray, do its job and give you a periodic report. Most family dogs aren’t as well-behaved!
