Yahoo making a Rockyesq comeback |
Om Malik has written one of the best blog entries I’ve read in a little while. The topic: How Yahoo Got Its Mojo Back. I could rip out solid quote after quote, but the truth of the matter is go over there now and gulp this excellent entry up. It’s a bookmarker.
Yahoo is definitely on the right track and Om reminds us why. Yahoo just has to keep up what they’ve been doing lately and continue to work on their search relevancy and do something about their exclusionary listing fee policies. There are some really, really good sites that aren’t in the Yahoo directory because the site owner either didn’t manually submit and/or pay their listing fees. Listing fees should not be a means of punishment for Yahoo search users and they are the ones who suffer when a lesser relevant result is put in place because somebody else paid a fee or took the time to wait out the ridiculously long free submission waiting period to get listed.
And no, makeyougohmm.com is not yet listed in Yahoo’s directory and no we haven’t paid for this listing (yet). This blog turns two years old on July 4, 2005. Maybe we can get listed by then. Maybe I’ll pony up for the listing fee if we don’t get listed. Maybe.
I did notice that both Jeremy Zawodny and Russell Beattie’s blogs are listed though. Imagine that?
