Unpacking the new Sony PSP |

Ok, my brief indecision is over! Went to Walmart first this morning, about 45 minutes after it opened and the clerk told me they had already sold five of them. My wife and I were there for 10 minutes looking over the games and nobody else came to buy one. They were selling them as standalone — no bundles, so we purchased the PSP and the Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 Remix game and the car charger for $6. Total price after tax: $334 USD
Next we drove down to Best Buy as they had opened two hours early for the launch. Our thinking was hey, if they have a good package deal we’ll pick one up here too and maybe resell one of them on eBay. Turns out the Puyallup store had available 120 units and we purchased unit #20 of the lot. We also picked up two more games: Lumines (puzzle game) and Capcom’s Darkstalkers Chronicle The Chaos Tower, a 2-year warranty, and a package of some cheap goodies. Total price: $422 USD . When we got home later I took a picture of the bags from each store:

Time to look inside the magical white box.

The first thing seen is the Spider-man 2 movie and the sampler disc. I laid out all the components inside the box.

There are 14 components inside the box:
- The box that the PSP comes in
- PSP battery
- Spider-man 2 movie (UMD format)
- soft PSP case
- AC adapter
- power cord (plugs into AC adapter)
- Sampler disc.
- Extender audio cord with remote control
- audio cord with white earbuds (hmm, wonder where that inspiration came from)
- Instruction manual
- PSP, in all its glory
- dust cloth
- 32 MB card
After identifying the components, I took a picture of the games and car charger:

Alas, it was time to read the Quick Start instructions. I’ll continue this shortly.
