Quartermann rumours: Xbox 2 out by Xmas 2005 |
One of my favorite pages in Electronic Gaming Monthly is the Quartermann gossip/rumour page. Yeah, he has it wrong about 50% of the time, but when he’s right he’s way right. In the most recent issue of EGM he’s floating a couple juicy rumours about the Xbox. In one he claims to have talked to an inside developer who has seen both the next generation Playstation (PS3) and Xbox 2 and that insider claims that the PS3 is way more powerful than the Xbox 2. The other rumour is that Xbox 2 wil be out by Christmas later this year and that a couple of titles are already confirmed. Just rumours, yes, but what if …?

Wright:1] I don’t follow many gaming-related websites or blogs (I do have a 1up.com blog), so that might be the case, Jeremy, but the thing I found most interesting is that an inside developer is leaking that the PS3 blows the doors off the Xbox 2 in hardware. If that’s true, then I wonder what kind of power the PS3 is going to have? Personally, from a gamer perspective I gave up caring about hardware specs as far as gameplay goes, but it is fascinating how these console makers continue to seem to want to have big dick contests.
