Givin’ the PC a bone — to verify age |
AC DC has to be proud, because this beckons the song from Back in Black Givin’ The Dog A Bone as I read this curious article on using biometrics to verify the age of the computer user.
A leading security company is exploring technology for verifying whether a user is a child or an adult by analyzing a bone in a person’s finger.
Drink your milk, children, because this thing measures calcium! Of course what’s to stop an adult from submitting to the biometric check and then the child gets in? I guess this would be no different than an adult buying an underage person cigarettes or beer, but the one thing I’ve noticed about biometric checking on my Tablet PC is that it doesn’t repeatedly check the fingerprint unless it’s configured that way. As long as I’m continuously using it, I can navigate wherever.
