TiVo Home Media Engine SDK

television — by TDavid @ 10:27 pm PST

Good news from TiVO: they’ve released the TiVo SDK

HME is the code name for TiVo’s powerful new open platform for applications that are displayed and controlled by broadband-connected TiVo Series2 DVRs. HME applications are written using the Java programming language and can run on home PC’s or remote servers hosted by TiVo. At this time, HME applications can not control any of the TiVo DVR’s scheduling, recording, or video playback capabilities.

The bolding is mine in the quote above, which let a little wind out of my sails, but this doesn’t mean that in the future they won’t be opening up these features.
