One of our problems with our Tivo HD is that it freezes all the time. Besides that I think they've really come along ways in terms of expanding the Tivo to better compete against media center boxes. Although I think that the Media center boxes provide a better experience in terms of expandability and features, my wife still clings onto the Tivo remote and refuses to try anything else.

Hi there!

I am looking for a media center pc as well.

I think you should look into getting a dual tv card, putting both cable boxes to your pc, and using the media center extender to broadcast the shows all over your house. However, I am still doing research.

Can you tell me if the PC can switch channels? This is important if you truly want to have the PC record random shows when you are not around to flip channels!

I've gone "one better" on the upgrade from TV department and unplugged it. The upgrade in free time, family time, PC time and other time was great. I doubt I'll ever want to plug it back in.
