Bought a 2005 Saturn Relay |
After our car letdown on our way to the company christmas party, we went car shopping yesterday. In Puyallup, they have one of those car lot streets, you know, where practically every car dealership is represented.
We looked at cars from $10,000 - $50,000; new cars, used cars, all different color cars. Our requirements were if the car was used that we didn’t want more than 40,000 miles, decent gas mileage, something that wouldn’t raise our insurance rates through the roof (literally and figuratively), if it was new then it had to be a killer deal and it was an absolute must that the car seat at least six people.
Being that we have two teenagers (soon to be three teens) we needed a mini-van, SUV or something like that. As we looked at more and more potential vehicles it became clear that the kids would enjoy an entertainment system in the back, and when we went into the Saturn dealer and were shown the new 2005 Relay along with the price, we were pretty much sold on sight. Even the salesman didn’t know much about the vehicle because it was so new but the test ride proved it was very smooth and nice.
This vehicle comes loaded with a lot of cool features standard like OnStar (have wanted to see that in action), rear entertainment system with DVD and composite input for PS2 or XBox (yes!), in the rear there is an extra 12v adapter so the kids (or passengers) can plugin their iPod via 12v adapter!

There I am, taking a picture … reflected in the glass is the temporary license.
The blue OnStar button activates OnStar and dials in to a range of services. The red + emergency button is for emergency services. The white button allows for voice activated calling.

The DVD player screen from the left backseat.

12v adapter like this makes it easy to use any standard plug device (like a laptop)
Check out the play and pause buttons along with separate headphone jacks for rear DVD entertainment system.
Jowl from Webmaster Cookbook, digs having the entire backseat to himself, away from his brothers.
6 total drink cup holders for plenty of hot or cold beverages while driving.
Full 6-disc CD changer which natively plays MP3!
Just beneath this extra storage compartment you’ll find the front 12v plug right on the floor. Jowl has posted some more pictures of the 2005 Saturn Relay at Webmaster Cookbook.

[…] The 2005 Saturn Relay has been a great family vehicle but really isn’t very economical for driving around town and trips for just my wife and I. We would like to buy something that we can drive back and forth to Vegas or Reno a couple times a year (that’s 1500-2000 miles round trip) or up to Vancouver BC or over to Montana, plus buzz around town. When we take the kids we’ll use the Relay, but for just the two of us it doesn’t make much sense driving the bigger vehicle. […]
