Do NOT heat lava lamps on the stove |
I was hearing about this story all over the Seattle radio stations yesterday. This guy was from Kent and according to reports he lived in a trailer.
A Washington state man who placed a lava lamp on a hot stove died when the lamp exploded and a glass shard pierced his heart, police said on Tuesday.
The man’s parents, who I do feel very, very sorry for, were out telling people the obvious: do not try this. Why the man would ever want to heat up a lava lamp on a stove is beyond me. They were speculating (how could they know otherwise?) on the radio that he wanted to see it bubble and look cool and thought the extra heat might provide a better light show. Instead it provided a glass-throwing explosion. I don’t know if a professional wearing kevlar would even try a stunt like this. What a messed up way to die. Here lies Kent, WA man, killed by lava lamp in trailer stove experiment gone horribly wrong. Sad, but so very, very stupid.
