Creating your own URL shortening site on Script School Radio #209 |
Today on Script School radio show #209 at 2pm PST / 5pm EST / 10pm GMT we’re going to be discussing the steps required for how to create your own URL shortening service. notlong.com provides a nice breakdown of what different features some of these type sites offer:
The free web sites below can take a long URL and give you back a shorter URL without requiring registration. Since these sites forward a click from one link to another, they are also known as URL forwarders and some do subdomain forwarding.
I also like to refer to them as mini-URL redirection services but whatever you call them, they all function basically the same: they take a really long URL and provide a much shorter alternative. I’ve already got my URL registered for my version of this type service! Much easier saying a short name on a radio show than it is rattling off a long one. That’s going to be my main use for the service and I’m going to share with listeners how I’m building the program.
Did this post make you go hmm?

I followed yesterdays show, and can’t wait for the next part. I already got my short url registered for the project next friday.

How can I learn about this technique if I missed the show?
Thanks.
